Just pushed through  the recent Feb 1 highs of 0.9250, to 0.9260 and a sustained push here can target 0.9339 seen on Jan 25. Been told there are some stops positioned on a break of 1.0690 but  so far   these haven’t been triggered yet with a low just now of 1.0689. We’ve been as low as 1.3052 so far, presently at 1.3060. Reports have sell stops through 1.3050. Buy orders then clustered 1.3020/30 before more  sell stops through 1.3020 and 1.3000.

According to Bloomberg, Bild Zeitung reports Troika’s latest report on Greek finances refers to “catastrophic conditions”, adding that country has fallen short of savings targets. Paper didn’t say where information came from.

Around the markets

Regional stocks have given back some of their early session gains but are still in positive territory by around 0.8% on average. Gold has rebounded in Asia to $1736/oz and Oil is trading near $97.25/bbl.

USD making slow and steady gains across the board

The US dollar has had a productive session across the board, up by around 0.5% against most of the majors though somewhat less so against the CHF and JPY. On-going Greek debt issues and escalating unrest in the Middle East is affecting risk sentiment.

AUD/USD orders: Stop-loss orders below 1.0710

Interbank players are keeping stops below 1.0710, which suggests to me that there are bids just above that level. We’re getting close again so time will tell.

EUR/USD edges lower again

EUR/USD is back below 1.3100 with EUR/JPY selling the main factor in the last few hours. Ongoing uncertainty surrounding the Greek’s government’s internal negotiations as well as talks with the Troika, is undermining the EUR.
